Trump calls for the termination of the Constitution

A madman dreams of being the supreme leader of the United States. His children and grandchildren would go on to rule this country.

Donald Trump dreams of becoming president for life. No voting is necessary because he believes he is entitled to hold the presidency until the day he dies. The former President Donald Trump on Saturday evening doubled down on his calls to “terminate” the United States Constitution and restore him to power.

Like any dictator he says whatever he wants and he gets it. His admiration for Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un is because they have absolute power. Military parades are a sign of power and he wanted one in Washington D.C. but was told the tanks and other military hardware would tear up the streets and so he relented.

Trump’s problem is he seems to really believe that the 2020 election was rigged. He doesn’t know how it was accomplished but really doesn’t care. As a spoiled brat as a child who was given everything he wanted he just can’t accept reality.

There are plenty of adult Republicans who have told him to accept reality and move on but it is not a reality he will accept. Unfortunately there remains a large minority of Republicans who have bought his claims of victory. Kari Lake, the failed GOP candidate for governor of Arizona is the best example of someone who has bought Trump’s nonsense.

Can you imagine if Trump wins the election in 2024. What would happen four years hence? He would want to overturn the Constitution and run for a third term.

Sadly USA Today reports “Republican leaders mostly silent over Donald Trump’s call to suspend the Constitution.”

The success of Jack Smith and Merrick Garland are our best hope of saving this democracy.

Gun Lovers are Free to Roam

As I have previously written Americans love guns more than life itself. There really is nothing I can write or say but as this is a topic that really ought to be on everyone’s mind.

What a great country we are where mass shootings are so frequent that the Virginia shooting in a Walmart was on the last page of the front section of the LA Times. It followed the shooting in a Colorado shooting just a few days earlier.

The deadliest mass shooting in the country so far this year was the massacre in which 19 children and two teachers were killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24. It happened 10 days after 10 people were shot and killed in a supermarket in Buffalo.

The Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit research group that tracks gun violence using police reports, news coverage and other public sources, defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people were killed or injured.

The Gun Violence Archive has counted at least 606 mass shootings so far this year.

Donald Trump is one of them

On Friday, former president Donald Trump denied knowing who white supremacist and antisemite Nick Fuentes was after Axios reported that he dined with the noted racist and rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

Donald Trump’s ambassador to Israel on Friday condemned his meeting with two men notorious for spreading anti-Semitism in America.

The two were  Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes.  Trump has claimed there was no discussion about Jews and he did not know that Fuentes is a Holocaust denier.

Trumps only ambassador to Israel, Ambassador David Friedman, addressed the scandal on Twitter.

“To my friend Donald Trump, you are better than this,” claimed Friedman, who did not resign after Trump’s fine people on both sides remarks following the fatal “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.

“Even a social visit from an antisemite like Kanye West and human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable,” Friedman wrote. “I urge you to throw those bums out, disavow them and relegate them to the dustbin of history where they belong.”

“Antisemites deserve no quarter among American leaders, right or left,” he wrote.

Friedman was Trump’s only ambassador to Israel and he served until the end of his administration on Jan. 20, 2021.

The question is why would Trump associate himself with people who are known antisemites?

You know the answer.

Donald Trump “Give me freedom or give me death”

The former leader of the free world lashed out on Thursday at one of the prosecutors investigating alleged misconduct.

“This case should be dismissed immediately, and the large, highly paid and ‘prestigious’ accounting firm that we relied on to do their job, but didn’t, should pay us a fortune in damages,” Trump said.

As he often does, he labeled the investigation “a total witch hunt!”

Two minutes later, he returned to Truth Social to post the quote, “Give me freedom or give me death.”

Let’s give him death if that is required to sustain the American democracy. We could put him on the gallows that was built to hang Mike Pence.

What a delightful way to end Donald Trump’s efforts.

The gallows built to hang Mike Pence

Mike Pence, the Fool

Former Vice President agreed to an interview for Meet the Press. The surprise in the interview was that it was a replica of Jake Tapper’s interview on CNN. Pence had the words memorized and spoke them in an almost robotic way. Other than Pence’s strong religious beliefs he showed his lack of ability to convey a thought of his own. In that robotic voice he praised Trump’s daily non-sensical COVID reports. Olivia Troye accurately defined Mike Pence.

Jewish Right to Return is under Assault

American Jews should be frightened about the rise of anti-semitism and where would Jews go if the hate becomes intolerable.  Would American Jews be welcomed in Israel?  It appears the right to return is under assault by Israel’s ultra-orthodox Jews.

Religious Zionist Party (RZP) MK and Otzma Yehudit faction head Itamar Ben-Gvir, expected to be a senior minister in the upcoming Israeli government, has made a number of statements over the past few days regarding his intentions for policy changes. The most concerning is Prioritizing Orthodox Judaism over other denominations.  It would also mean no recognition by the Israeli government of Reform and Conservative conversions, as well as no more general support for these movements.

Most American Jewish groups voice their delight that Israel is a democracy but many are now voicing their concern of RXP’s participation in the Israeli government. The Washington Post reports “Criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing government has been heard from American Jews for a while now, but a simple 20-word tweet from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the largest American Israel lobby, has sent shock waves through the political establishment in Israel.”

“The views of Otzma Yehudit are reprehensible. They do not reflect the core values that are the very foundation of the State of Israel,” AJC wrote in its statement. “The party might conceivably gain enough votes to enter the next Knesset, and potentially even become part of the governing coalition.”

AIPAC’s tweet simply said it agreed with the AJC and added that it “has a long-standing policy not to meet with members of the racist and reprehensible party.”

The New York Post Cracked the Egg!

The cover of Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post is printing a Thursday cover with an egg-shaped Trump on a brick wall with the headline, “Trumpty Dumpty.” The sub-headline said “Don (who couldn’t build a wall) had a great fall — can all the GOP’s men put the party back together again?” The New York Post cracked the egg!

May be a cartoon of one or more people, people standing and text that says 'NEW YORK POST METRO EDITION $2.00 Don (who couldn't build a wall) had a great fall can all the GOP's men put the party back together again? TRUMPTY ரயாா் DUMPTY umnist Piers PAGES'

Name Calling is Hate and it will Never Go Away!

We can all agree that name calling is nasty and is meant to hurt the person on the receiving end of those words.  So we don’t say “N—-r” instead we say “Blacks” write “N-word” and everyone know what that means.  “Jew” is not acceptable so we say or write “Jewish person.” For Mexicans “Tonto” is a word often used if you want to say that someone is not very intelligent or has done something remarkably silly. Estúpido/a can be used interchangeably, but it is somewhat less common than tonto/a.

NAME CALLING or STEREOTYPING: Giving a person or an idea a bad label by using an easy to remember pejorative name. This is used to make us reject and condemn a person or idea without examining what the label really means. Examples: “Republican”, “Tree-Hugger”, “Nazi”, “Environmentalist”, “Special-Interest Group”.

Propagandists use this technique to create fear and arouse prejudice by using negative words (bad names) to create an unfavorable opinion or hatred against a group, beliefs, ideas or institutions they would have us denounce. This method calls for a conclusion without examining the evidence. Name Calling is used as a substitute for arguing the merits of an idea, belief, or proposal. It is often employed using sarcasm and ridicule in political cartoons and writing.

How to end this post? James Cagney never actually said “You dirty rat,” but a line in his 1932 film “Taxi!” probably came closest. At least that wasn’t against any group.
