Gloat

Why are Democratic pundits gloating over the election results?  Barack Obama did not win by an overwhelming majority.

The final results from the presidential election are impressive when looking at the Electoral College (332 to 206) but not so impressive when looking at the popular vote (65,258,278 or 50.9% to 60,658,920 or 47.3%).  Thus .9% gave the president a win.  Hardly a landslide.

Despite that narrow victory Democratic pundits are gleefully hashing out the mistakes made by Mitt Romney and his campaign election team as if they were utterly incompetent.

Wikipedia lists these landslide victories among the popular vote.  These were wins worth gloating over.

So while I disagreed with Mitt Romney’s opinions on women’s rights (from pay to abortion and contraception), his lack of concern for 47% of the population, his solution to illegal immigration (self deport), and his confrontational views in foreign policy; almost half of all Americans gave him their vote.

Mr. President stop gloating.  You do not have a mandate.

Proud to be White Mister!

Proud to be White!

I have been wondering about why Whites are racists, and no other race is……

Proud to be White
Michael Richards makes his point…
Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act.
He makes some very
interesting points…

Someone finally said it. How many are actually paying attention to this?

There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.
And then there are just Americans..
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.

You call me ‘White boy,’ ‘Cracker,’ ‘Honkey,’ ‘Whitey,’ ‘Caveman’… And that’s OK…
But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head,
Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink .. You call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you….
So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to
live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.

You h
ave Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah.

You have Ma’uled
Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP.

You have BET….

If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we’d be racists.

If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we’d be racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to ‘advance’ OUR lives, we’d be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for
that??

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund
that only gave white students scholarships… You know we’d be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US
Yet if there were
‘White colleges’, that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we
marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you’re not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white
pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, car jack us, and shoot at us.
But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud…… But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There
is nothing improper about this e-mail…
Let’s see which of you are
proud enough to send it on.
I sadly don’t think many will.

That’s why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country.
We won’t stand up for ourselves!

BE PROUD TO BE WHITE!

It’s not a crime
YET….But getting very close!

Banks are Too Big To Fail! Is it true?

“SAN FRANCISCO(MarketWatch) — Moody’s Investors Service downgraded the ratings late Thursday of 15 financial firms with global capital-markets operations from one to three notches.”  The list included Bank of America Corp. BAC, Citigroup Inc. C, HSBC Holdings PLC.  These three are on the list of America’s largest banks.

Largest banks and thrifts in US by total deposits

Company                       City, State            Deposits in Billions of Dollars

JPMorgan Chase & Co.                            New York, NY            1,127.8

Bank of America Corp.                            Charlotte, NC              1,033.0

Citigroup Inc.                                          New York, NY                 865.9

Wells Fargo & Co.                                  San Francisco, CA           920.1

U.S. Bancorp                                          Minneapolis, MN             230.9

Capital One Financial Corp.                 McLean, VA                     211.2

Bank of New York Mellon Corp.         New York, NY                    219.1

PNC Financial Services Group Inc.     Pittsburgh, PA                    209.2

HSBC North America Holdings Inc.      New York, NY                   122.6

State Street Corp.                                Boston, MA                        157.3

This identical data was printed in Forbes and The WSJ.

Yes, you read it correctly, JPMorgan Chase & Co. has deposits of One Trillion, onehundred twenty eight Billion point eight dollars.

Moody’s says “All the banks affected by these rating actions have significant exposure to the volatility and risks inherent in the capital markets business, which have led many to fail or avoid it only through the receipt of support from a third party.”  We can all conclude that the third party is a government or government sponsored entity.

Banks receive aid but the aid to small business and home owners is minimal.  If it isn’t called welfare, what do you call government support for banks?

Another Major Earthquake

I am no expert on earthquakes but Los   Angeles has had a major quake about every 20 years.  Following is a list of quakes in the Los Angeles region that was collected by Wikipedia.  I have bolded those that were major shakers in Long Beach, Inglewood, West Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley.

My unscientific evaluation is that we are due for another major shaker NOW.

Are you ready?

The Last Voyage

I have seen the movie “Titanic” twice, “The Last Voyage” once, and “The Poseidon Adventure” many times.  They are very suspenseful and entertaining with wonderful casts.  They are one of the reasons I won’t take a cruise.

Three bodies were recovered from the sea and news reports said 69 people were still unaccounted for after the Costa Concordia ran aground off the tiny island of Giglio near the coast of Tuscany late Friday, tearing a 160-foot (50-meter) gash in its hull.  (The final death count is 32 people.)

“Have you seen ‘Titanic?’ That’s exactly what it was,” said Valerie Ananias, 31, a schoolteacher from Los Angeles who was traveling with her sister and parents on the first of two cruises around the Mediterranean. They all had dark red bruises on their knees from the desperate crawl they endured along hallways and stairwells that were nearly vertical, trying to reach rescue boats.

Passengers complained the crew failed to give instructions on how to evacuate and once the emergency became clear, delayed lowering the lifeboats until the ship was listing too heavily for many of them to be released.

By morning Saturday, the ship was lying virtually flat off Giglio’s coast, its starboard side submerged in the water.

Helicopters plucked to safety some 50 people who were trapped on the ship, some survivors were rescued by boats in the area, and an official said some people jumped from the ship.

Three bodies were recovered from the sea and news reports said 69 people were still unaccounted for after the Costa Concordia ran aground off the tiny island of Giglio near the coast of Tuscany late Friday, tearing a 160-foot (50-meter) gash in its hull.

Survivors who escaped a luxury cruise ship that ran aground and tipped over recounted a scene reminiscent of “Titanic” on Saturday, describing a delayed then panicked evacuation, as plates and glasses crashed around them and they crawled along upended hallways trying to reach safety.

Several passengers said crew members for a good 45 minutes told passengers there was a simple “technical problem” that had caused the lights to go off. Seasoned cruisers, however, knew better and went to get their life jackets in their rooms and report to their “muster stations,” the emergency stations each passenger is assigned to, they said.

It wasn’t immediately known if the dead were passengers or crew, nor were the nationalities of the victims immediately known, Paolillo told The Associated Press in Romeby telephone from his command in the Tuscan port city of Livorno. It wasn’t clear how they died.

As dawn neared, a painstaking search of the 290-meter (950-foot) long ship’s interior was being conducted to see if anyone might have been trapped inside.

It was a Very Bad Year

Sadly, it was an ugly year.

Nature showed her worst side with an earthquake followed by a tsunami in Japan.  Meanwhile there were an extraordinary number tornadoes and earthquakes that occurred in the eastern United  States.

Dictators fell thanks to the Arab Spring but lives were lost and the Middle East is still in turmoil.  The dictator (president) of Syria is still killing his people.

America has left Iraq but the outcome of the effort is still in doubt.  Bombings and turbulence are rocking that country.

Iran and North Korea are on the same paths that strike fear into their neighbors.

The United States government has declared the recession is over but those that lost their jobs and significant home value have not recovered.

A debt crisis is impacting both Europe and the United States.  The U.S.had its own debt struggles. In August, Standard & Poor’s lowered the country’s long-term sovereign debt rating to AA+ from AAA. These are situations brought on by incompetent politicians.

America’s political system is deadlocked.

So what was the good news?

The one wonderful event was the marriage of Kate Middleton to Prince William.

Unemployment is down and American car sales are up.

The movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life” is a message of hope.

California High Speed Rail Boondoggle

The idea of a high speed train from San Diego to San Francisco has great appeal to a majority of Californians. We were so enthused with the idea that we voted in 2008 for bonds to pay $9 billion of the construction costs.  The estimated cost was $43 billion. Unfortunately the latest cost estimate has more than doubled to $98.5 billion.

Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (the group that created Proposition 13 tax relief). predicted that fares would have to be about “$300 a ticket and assume ridership levels that aren’t going to exist to assume a break-even level.”  Coupal predicted the total cost would rise to $90 billion.

If they are predicting $98.5 billion now, what do you suppose the final bill will be?

What ever the final number is, the cost will be somewhere north of $100 billion.  There are claims that the building program would generate about 1 million jobs.

The problem with all the claims about this project is that all the claims of costs and job creation are the product of a group of people who strongly support the idea of a fast train linking the cities of California.  Our history in building anything of consequence in this state is that cost overruns of three to four times the original estimates are the rule.

The idea is good but the cost makes this a no-go!
