Abortion Rights Protected

John Roberts

In the U.S. legal system, there is a principle that compels judges to respect the precedent established by prior decisions on similar cases. This principle is known as “stare decisis” (Latin). This means that courts should adhere to precedent, and not stir the pot on matters already settled.

The above explanation copied from legaldictionary.net explains the reason Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the four “liberal” judges on the Supreme Court in blocking Louisiana’s anti-abortion law. Precedent was set by the striking down a similar law passed by Texas and the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe versus Wade. Jeffrey Toobin, a legal analyst on CNN, explained this in this linked video.

Our legal system is derived from United Kingdom common law and has been adopted by most of the world. Unfortunately that was the reason laws allowing separate but equal in the schools and other Jim Crow laws took decades to overturn.

Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. These laws were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by White Democratic-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by Blacks during the Reconstruction period. The Jim Crow laws were enforced until 1965.

Trump’s Winning Strategy – Fear

The coronavirus is surging. The latest BLS weekly jobs report shows new unemployment claims at just short of 1.5 million people, and the NYT/Siena polling survey shows Trump behind in most key battleground states. But Donald Trump has a plan.

It’s called FEAR.

Unable to run for re-election based on a flourishing economy Trump has chosen to rally his supporters by claiming that radical left wing groups and the Democratic Party are determined to bring down America.

At the Tulsa rally Mr. Trump said, “In Joe Biden’s America, rioters, looters and criminal aliens have more rights than law abiding citizens.” “Joe Biden will always let you down,”

Trump will argue that Mr. Biden is no longer in charge of his own campaign. Mr. Biden is a puppet being propped up by radical forces desperate to topple America as we all know it. A “Trojan Horse for socialism,” Mr. Trump said at the Tulsa rally.

The requirement to wear masks for health protection and stay at home orders are power hungry lefties who want to control everything in your life.

Joe Biden wants to allow hordes of illegal aliens who are most likely rapists and thieves into our country.

In the end Donald J. Trump will argue “I alone will protect you against all the unseen forces who want to destroy America.”

Qanon says nothing can stop what is coming – The Prophecies of Q

Most QAnon supporters say they believe “Q” is an anonymous government official sharing information about a secret battle between Trump and a powerful cabal of Democratic politicians, liberal celebrities and the “deep state.”

The conspiracy posts, first shared through the website 4chan in 2017, also hint at a much darker plot in which many of those figures control a worldwide child sex-trafficking ring.

“The basis of the QAnon theory is that a group of high-level officials close to Trump are leaking cryptic messages” about the secret conspiracy involving Democrats, the media and the “deep state,” View said. Believers view Trump “as savior of not just the country, but humankind,” and the person “who’s going to expose the Satan-loving deep state pedophiles once and for all,” he said.

“They are very worshipful of the current leader of the Republican Party,” who, View noted, “rose to political prominence on the back of ‘birtherism,'” the unfounded conspiracy theory that alleged that Obama was an illegitimate president because he was born in Kenya. Obama was born in Hawaii.

This article that appeared in the June 2020 addition of The Atlantic is all about the conspiracy theorists that are a part of American life. Longer than anything I would write for this blog but worth your time.

Donald Trump is Livid

Living in his own world Donald Trump believes everything is wonderful. Poll numbers are all up. The coronavirus is going away (On Wednesday Trump said “It’s dying out.”) The economy is in a rapid recovery.

Unfortunately none of that is true. A new Fox News poll shows that Biden is ahead of Trump by a 12 point margin, as racism, coronavirus, and unemployment are top-of-mind for 2020 voters. New virus cases have been trending upward reaching almost 28,000 cases today. John Bolton, his former very conservative adviser, has joined a group of highly respected former members of the Trump cabinet condemning him as a moron and unfit to serve in the roll of president. Another 1.5 million people filed for unemployment benefits this past week. To add to his dismay he has lost two cases in the Supreme Court (LGBTQ protection against employer discrimination and preserving DACA).

To make himself feel better he is having a campaign rally in an enclosed arena in Tulsa Oklahoma where no masks will be required and social distancing will not be enforced.

If you are concerned about Trump’s health check the bunker.

The Virus is Gone and other Fairy Tales

On Monday, Vice President Pence urged governors to take increased testing into account for increased cases. And on Tuesday, he penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal claiming there is “no second wave” of coronavirus. Pence also traveled to Iowa Tuesday, where he had lunch at a local restaurant with Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds and made remarks at Winnebago Industries touting US “recovery.”

Donald Trump and his henchman Mike Pence say the virus is over so it must be true.  After all they are president and vice president of the United States.  Trump is quoted as saying ‘If we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.’   They would never lie to the American people. The White press secretary said she would never lie.

Of course the reported data is all fake news. The new cases is really just better testing. That is the reason the number of cases is exaggerated. Besides the media loves to create panic. After all those liberal news outlets are making lots of money with their non-stop reporting of illnesses and deaths. We know that our own projections of deaths is part of the deep state and cannot be trusted.

You can’t trust Dr. Anthony Fauci. He after all is just a pointy headed scientist who knows nothing about life.

Believe us when we tell you the virus will be gone in weeks.

Now good night children. As your leaders we know what is best for you so plan on going shopping tomorrow and have dinner out. Nighty night!

There are No German Bases named “Hitler”

Robert E Lee 1863

Germany has tried its very best to put its Nazi history behind it.  The German government has paid reparations to families who were victims of the Nazi regime.  Those that did fight WW2 for Nazi Germany mostly do not want to even talk about their part in that war.  There are no bases and no statues honoring those who fought that war valiantly for their nation.  But here in the United States the South still holds General Robert E. Lee as a hero.  Lee was a colonel in the United States army before the confederacy. Lee was a traitor.

The South has continued honoring confederate military leaders to this day. Fort Benning is named for Henry L. Benning, a brigadier general Confederate States army.  Fort Bragg is named for Civil War veteran General Braxton Bragg.  Both of these men were traitors to the United States.

The Edmund Pettus Bridge carries U.S. Route 80 Business (US 80 Bus.) across the Alabama River in Selma, Alabama. Built in 1940, is named after Edmund Winston Pettus, a former Confederate brigadier general and U.S. senator.  He too is a traitor.

In my working days I traveled to the South three times and each time I was advised not to discuss anything about slavery, Black people, or anything about the confederacy.  In spite of my best efforts there were always some people who wanted to discuss those issues.

First Day of Reopening – Westfield Topanga Mall

I was surprised to see so many cars parked in the northside Owensmouth garage.  It was a hot day.  I took a walk around the lower level.  At least one half of all the stores were closed.  Target and Macy’s was open but Nordstrom’s was closed.  H&M had all the mannequins undressed and there were stacked boxes of merchandise so I guess they will not be re-opening.  Jimmy Choo’s had no merchandise on the shelves which probably means they too are closing.  Some stores had notification of their planned openings and others posted on the doors they would be opening soon. Of course all the eateries and cholatiers were closed.

This is not my video but definitely tells the story.
