Is Donald Trump a serious candidate for president of the United States?

When Peggy Noonan thinks the GOP candidate is crazy it really is time for Republicans to re-think their support for the unhinged Donald Trump.

At a CNN Libertarian Party town hall hosted by Anderson Cooper on Wednesday (August 3), Bill Weld outright mocked Trump — saying he has “a screw loose.”

Charles Krauthammer in his latest column: “It’s that he can’t help himself. His governing rule in life is to strike back when attacked, disrespected or even slighted. To understand Trump, you have to grasp the General Theory: He judges every action, every pronouncement, every person by a single criterion — whether or not it/he is “nice” to Trump.” Krauthammer’s contentions do support the screw loose contention of Bill Weld.

David Axelrod said that if Donald Trump were trying to lose this election, he would not behave any differently than he has in the last few days.Source: CNN

There have been more than a few commentaries suggesting that Trump really does not want the presidency and is intentionally saying things that would make him unacceptable to most Americans. Of course there is also his own contention that the elections are rigged, If that was a true “fact” it would give him a way to say he can’t win and rather than going through the humiliation of a loss he has decided to withdraw from the campaign.

The Libertarian ticket is looking more appealing by the day. With 94 more days until election day we all have plenty of time to change our minds multiple times.

Can a Racist be Elected President of the United States?

The answer to this question, sadly, is yes!

Who is that racist? Donald Trump.

Why would I believe that?

You can’t make this stuff up.

June 3, 2016 Redding, California (CNN) Donald Trump sought to tout his support among African-Americans on Friday by pointing out a black man in the crowd and calling him “my African-American.”

“Oh, look at my African-American over here. Look at him,” Trump said. “Are you the greatest?”

The remark didn’t generate a noticeable response from Trump’s audience.

June 3, 2016 Washington (CNN) Donald Trump on Friday vociferously defended his claims that a judge overseeing a lawsuit against Trump University is biased because of his Mexican heritage — pushing back against criticism that his objections are racist.

Speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead,” Trump repeatedly referenced his plans to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico and renegotiate trade agreements between the two countries.

Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, escalated his unprecedented verbal attacks on Federal District Judge Gonzalo Curiel on Thursday night. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump claimed the judge could not fairly preside over the Trump University cases because of Curiel’s “Mexican heritage.” (Curiel is from Indiana; his parents are Mexican immigrants.) “I’m building a wall, it’s an inherent conflict of interest,” he added.

From the American Heritage Dictionary

Racist

  1. Believes that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
  2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

According to Real Clear Politics the last poll was completed June 1 shows Clinton with a lead of 1.5. The previous poll completed May 30 shows Clinton with a lead of 1. In other words a win now is a 50/50 proposition. A bigot could be elected president.

Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump and The Media Circus

You may have thought that Megyn Kelly was a serious reporter when she challenged Donald Trump at the first GOP debate on August 6, 2015. That was where she challenged Mr. Trump on his treatment of women. You would be wrong. Her real intent, and the intent of Fox News, was to obtain attention grabbing headlines that would result in higher viewership of that cable station. The plan worked even better than they had anticipated.

How do I know this? Watch yesterday’s interview by Kelly of Trump. (the video appears to be blocked.  It can be found on Youtube) Not one serous question was asked about the campaign for president. Not one serious question was asked about anything. It was all fluff. Why now? Fox wants to continue the appearance of Mr. Trump on their programs. So they made nice. In addition the ending of the program was an advertisement for a Megyn Kelly written book. The new book about her year covering — and feuding — with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Fox News and Megyn Kelly are not alone in their pursuit of the money that the election generates.  MSNBC and CNN have coverage every hour of the day and night on the election and of course their focus on Donald Trump. When it comes to in depth analysis DO NOT look for any of that, even on Sunday morning programs like Meet the Press and Face the Nation.

That leaves the citizenry of America to figure out who should receive their vote based upon the limited, media controlled information and the information posted on line by “independent” thinkers.  Is anyone really non-partisan?

Is Ted Cruz Anti-Semitic or Just Anti-New York?

On today’s The Situation Room, CNN Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin slammed Cruz’s comments about “New York values” as a “derogatory term ” about Jews which amounted to nothing more than an “old-fashioned” “anti-semitic trope” from “a hundred years” ago.

When Jeffrey Toobin, who also happens to be Jewish and NYC resident, says the New York values comment by Ted Cruz is code for an anti-Semitic slur, I must recognize his opinion. Personally I did not know the meaning of Cruz remark.

Surprisingly, Wolf Blitzer, who also is Jewish, pushed back clarifying Cruz’s comments, but that wasn’t enough to satisfy Toobin.

WOLF BLITZER: Well, he says he was referring to liberal politicians in New York state.

TOOBIN:  Oh, really? [sarcastically]

BLITZER  And he mentioned Cuomo, he mentioned Charlie Rangel, Anthony Weiner. You heard the list of the people he mentioned today.

TOOBIN: But they have nothing to do with money and media. Money and media is Jews. This is just an old-fashioned anti semitic stereotype derogatory term and everybody understands it.

Jennifer Rubin writing in The Washington Post tried to understand Cruz’s meaning but the best she could offer is New Yorkers are materialistic and liberals. Rubin is Jewish but grew up in California so she her perspective, like mine, isn’t New Yorker. She may not have ever been the victim of Anti-Semitism.

Cruz has voiced unending support for Israel. That is a significant qualifier for Republican mega-donor Sheldon Adelson. I wonder what Adelson makes of the Cruz remarks about New Yorkers. Adelson is from Boston.  Other wealthy Jewish Republicans could also be upset about the Cruz comments.

The fight at the GOP convention will be wild.

Erin Burnett Gives Birth to a Baby Boy

Erin-BurnettA favorite anchor of mine on CNN, Erin Burnett, welcomed her first child – a boy – with husband David Rubulotta on Friday.

“Dave and I welcomed a healthy, happy baby boy at 9:47 p.m. Friday November 29th,” the Erin Burnett OutFront host tells PEOPLE. “He weighed in at 8 lbs., 10 oz.”

The 37-year-old – who married Rubulotta, a managing director at Citigroup, in December – announced that she was expecting in June.

Presidential Debate One Goes to Mitt Romney

Even before tonight’s presidential debate was over I knew that Mitt Romney had won.  He strongly stated the case that Barack Obama had spent too much time on health care when jobs were the issue facing many Americans.

Romney’s ideas for creating jobs are full of holes.  However, he emphasized that he could provide the stimulus to create 12 million jobs in his first four years as president.  The president had no response.

The reporters and commentators on CNN agree with my assessment.  James Carville was part of the CNN panel and he too agreed that Romney was the winner.

This does not mean that Romney will win the election.  It does give the Republicans confidence that their man can win the White House.
